1. Tuey Park (Waterwheel)

Tuey Park sits on the banks of the Shuswap River in Enderby. The sand is oh-so soft, the water crystal clear and shallow, and there are often food trucks grilling in the parking lot.

Local Tip: This is the spot where many river floaters get out of the water so it can be a little busy. We recommend that you head slightly down stream to stay out of their way. There is a cow farm next door. This beach is walking distance from downtown Enderby.

2. Mara Lake

Mara Provincial Park has a boat launch, large swimming area, washrooms, and plenty of space for picnics. The area is ideal for summer recreation including waterskiing, boating, camping and swimming. The rural community of Mara has many amenities including a store, hall, park and b&b’s.

Local Tip: The roadside Mara Foodliner provides gas, foodstuffs and fresh produce to area residents and visitors. This charming farming community supports several businesses, a community hall, a community park and a church. The river provides a serene environment and ample recreation possibilities, with lots of campgrounds and Mara Provincial Park.

3. Kal Beach

Kal beach is one of Vernon’s largest beaches. It is easy to access and has all the amenities.

Local Tip: Kalamalka Beach is beautiful and popular. It is HOT here and shade can be hard to come by so we recommend bringing your umbrella or pop up tent.

4. Juniper Bay

Juniper Bay is is tucked away in Kalamalka Provincial Park, just south of the Coldstream neighbourhood in Vernon. It is often a quieter shadier spot on a hot day.

Location: The very end of Kidston Road, VERNON

Local Tip: It is about a 6min walk from the parking lot to the beach on a paved path. The path is wheelchair and stroller friendly but note that it is uphill on the way back.

5. Kin Beach

Kin Beach sits on Vernon’s arm of Okanagan Lake. It is the largest stretch of beach with a massive park area.

Location: 7248 Tronson Road, VERNON

Local Tip: Kin beach is huge so there is alway lots of space for a big blanket or bocce. The South end is all sand (we like to hang out on floaties down here) whereas the North end has lawn, a great playground, bathrooms and shade (this is a more kid-friendly area). There is a snack shack at the campground across the road and food trucks often park here as well. You will always find parking but it is not plentiful and you may have to walk a little ways.

6. Lakeshore Park

Lakeshore Park is just up the street from Kin Beach on Okanagan Lake Vernon. It is a lovely little spot with swings and bocce!

Local Tip: Lakeshore is a lovely park partially because it is smaller and quieter, however, parking is limited. There are no bathrooms on site.

7. Paddlewheel Park

Paddlewheel Park is on the South Side of Okanagan Lake in Vernon. It has a playground and tennis court.

8. Hurlburt Park

Why we love it: Hurlburt Park is on the South side of Okanagan Lake in Vernon. It’s a small park off the beaten path.

9. Ellison Park

Why we love it: Ellison beach is part of Ellison Provincial Park! A beautiful piece of wilderness a 20 min drive from downtown Vernon.

Location: almost at the end of Eastside Road VERNON

Local Tip: Ellison Park is part of a provincial campground. Up above the beach you will find a playground and concession. There are two large day-parking lots with a short walk down to the beach. Note, there is a lower level drop off spot for people on wheels. The path down is quite steep and tricky to do with a stroller or wheel chair.

10. Mabel Lake

A vista of deep blue water surrounded by green mountains greets visitors to Mabel Lake. Enjoy swimming, boating, waterskiing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and fishing at this lake east of Enderby that stretches 26 km in length and 2 km in width. Lakeside amenities include public beach areas, a golf course and resort, two boat launches, a children’s camp, a store, an established marina plus a brand new marina.

11. Grindrod Park

Grindrod Park is located along a slow-moving section of the Shuswap River, making it perfect for swimming. A new community hall, picnic table, a playground, walking perimeter trail and ball diamonds add to the park’s appeal for families and special events. A path under the bridge gives easy access to Grindrod amenities.

12. Riverside Park

Riverside Park provides ball diamonds, a large gazebo, washrooms, and playground plus easy access to a boat launch, swimming and the Riverwalk.
